Believing is Seeing...

(Due to a glitch I lost the first draft and had to start over, so I know this needs to get out!) Coming out of school over 2 years ago I would never have expected this to happen. I knew from the get go that I would make sure everyone knew my office was God-centered, rather than hide it as not to offend anyone. The most important point I had to get across to everyone is that God created you to be WELL. I figured as others warned me that I would have patients leave out of disagreement or distrust because of my position. What actually happened surprised me...

More often than not, it has been those that openly voice their faith that decide they "did not need help", while those that openly denounce faith seem to clearly understand why they do. What's up with that? Well it confused me for a while, but after spending some time with it, I figured it out. I grew up in church, hearing the pastor read the scripture about how God overcomes disease and how God has already given you EVERYTHING you need. I ABSOLUTELY agree, but boy is this dangerous when people misunderstand it. I'd see people go to the altar and pray for healing. Then I'd go to the picnic afterwards and see them eating a pork sandwich and washing down their BP meds with an ice cold Coke. Guess who was back at the altar again next week? I realized how frustrating this must be for pastors and started asking the ones I treat about it. You can guess their response. So I made it a point to start speaking in churches about this to help them out. The reason "believers" have a hard time seeing the need for help/intervention starts with the common reference to the body as "the flesh" with an almost negative connotation. God's greatest creation as something that we must overcome, something almost evil that must be whipped into submission. For this we've created an imaginary wall between the physical body and the spirit. There is NO WALL! The bible tells us to "Glorify God in our Bodies" 1 Cor. 6:20, that this is our "Spiritual Act of Worship" Rom. 12:1. But "Adam's sin is why we suffer from disease" isn't it? I hear this one WAY too often. Does John slapping Jane make ME an abuser? It's the things WE do to ourselves that creates our consequences and our separation from God in SPIRIT or BODY (the blood ensured that). This is why we must WORK to be healthy. The bible says "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" Hos. 4:6. The brilliance in this verse is the unsaid, that knowledge requires first understanding (getting the Big Idea that "God needs no help, just NO INTERFERENCE"). Of course that means we must figure out what is interfering with our bodies innate ability to heal and fix it. As for miraculous healings there are TWO reasons why I believe they occur. One, we begin to ACT upon God's instruction (even if it's only in a decision) or two, it is used to bring SOMEONE ELSE closer to God. Either way the will of God is being accomplished through the greater good. If you give a kid a bike without first cleaning his room, what lesson will you be teaching? James 2:26 tells us that "Faith without ACTION is dead". Until we quit hiding behind our prayers, and start ACTING on them, God is going to keep biting his lip in anticipation. Pray AND ACT, and watch how quickly God will "draw his blazing guns". If this happened miracles would occur faster than you could look for them.

PARADIGM SHIFT...
What's the BIG IDEA? The Human Brain is the MASTER control system for the entire body. Every cell, tissue, and organ is somehow controlled or influenced by the nervous system through a network of nerves which yours alone if lined up in individual fibers end to end would wrap around the entire globe more than two and a half times.

What's your FIRST step going to be in getting and staying healthy?
