Definition of Insanity...

Reprint from Dr. Ben Lerner, New York Times bestselling author of Body By God and One Minute Wellness.

The director of the pediatric headache clinic at the University of Maryland Hospital for Children in Baltimore says that at least half the young patients who come to see him suffer from chronic daily headaches. "These patients remain complex and perplexing," says Dr. Jack Gladstein, who founded the Maryland clinic in 1989. Often, it is a matter of trying various migraine medications. Among the most common are prescription drugs called "triptans," which are marketed under such names as Maxalt, Amerge, Imitrex, and Zomig. They're taken at the onset of a headache. Because chronic headaches often run in families, some doctors give their young patients drugs that have worked on relatives. Others also have found that antidepressants sometimes help, since depression can be an underlying factor. And some accompany the use of prescription drugs with acupuncture or botox injections to relax stiffened head and neck muscles. Doctors say it's also important that their young patients stay on a regular sleep schedule and avoid stress and skipping meals. Gohmann has tried all of it -- and says a new triptan medication seems to be helping. Still living at home because of the headaches, she's still hoping she'll be able to go away to college. In the meantime, she's discovered that several of her classmates -- and even some of her professors -- have trouble with severe headaches too. "We swap horror stories," Gohmann says. "It helps when people understand."
I once read a study on headache treatments that stated there are over 100 ways to treat headaches. One of those ways is with drugs.
As most people know, the definition of insanity is "Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result." So despite trying drug after drug and failing to get these poor sick children well from headaches, the ultimate solution to this article is that there are some "NEW" drugs that may help...try the same thing and expect a different result.
Of those 100+ ways of treating headaches, many are Chiropractic techniques. This poor person in the story is most likely only a few adjustments away from being able to go to college. Chiropractic is a safe, different, and therefore, sane solution to getting well and/or staying well.

If You Only Knew...

If you only knew, you would wake up in the morning ready. You would thirst for information, you would seek answers, and you would agonize for truth.
If you knew what I know, you would talk to every person that would listen, every time you saw them. You would stop mothers in the stores or at the malls. You would look for opportunitys under every stone and behind every door. You would look for ways to reach the masses beyond individuals. If you knew, you would not care what others think or say, because you know what they do not.
If you knew what I know, you could not live with yourself if you felt content. You would realize that blind eyes and deaf ears are your responsibility. Your heart would break when you overhear a conversation, but shatter when you do nothing.
If you only knew what I know, you would be a loud voice, you would save lives, you would alter futures, you would be a light, you would change the world. Most importantly, you would not stop until you see it is done.

Health Resurrected...

The Sunday we will celebrate the event that time itself is based upon. As we do so we need to look at our lives and establish some principles.

First, are we still living in the old and if not are we ready to move into something better? While it can certainly keep us alive, modern medicine has proven itself unreliable for maintaining "good" health. As blood letting passed with time and science, so must go many of the practices we rely on today. Science is pouring in new information for a better way, the wellness lifestyle.

Second, where will we end up if we choose to continue in a life of indulgence? We are given choices everyday. The only way to attain a better, more abundant lifestyle is to make better choices. You cannot buy health. In other words, though you may "feel" better there is no drug you can take that will truly fix the conditions you create by making poor decisions.

And third, will you see the end result, or will you continue to base your decisions on a 24 hour window? We have all been trained intensely NOT to look at the end consequence, but to act in the present tense alone.

Spend some time this week thinking about the things you are willing to change for a better life, even if it takes sacrifice. You may think giving up something is too much to endure. Remember though not to just look at the cost, but look at the reward as well!

Chronic Ignorance...

Now before you get upset about the title, let's look at the definition of "ignorance": "The condition of being uneducated, unaware, or uninformed." Now let me show you how this applies to healthcare in the United States.

According to the new numbers posted by Blue Cross Blue Shield, "33% of the working age population has at least one chronic disease, and 70% of all deaths are related to a chronic disease." These numbers are far worse than what you see in the rest of the world.

Here's the "ah-hah moment". Our medical system and concept of health care is supposed to be the best in the world.......

You need to go back and read all that again if a lightbulb didn't just turn on in your head. Why are we so sick if what we are doing is working? The answer is it isn't. If the system is not making us better, it's making us _______.

You remember the old saying about the road less taken, well our country (your family) is at a fork in the road and I believe Mike Adams put it best when he said
"...if you are going to be healthy, you have to start by shattering old dysfunctional belief systems that have been pounded into your head by the media and mainstream medicine. You have to replace those with new beliefs that serve YOU better."
